Meet Alicia Johnson, LMFT (SHE/HER)
Online Therapist For Women in Michigan, Minnesota, South Dakota, Oklahoma, Florida, and South Carolina
You don’t have to manage this alone.
You’re typically really good at keeping the chaos managed and not letting anyone know just how stressed you are. However, lately, it is feeling out of control and you don’t know what else you can do to manage it. I am here to help.
Counseling in Ann Arbor
You feel stuck and just want to get back in control of things. I get it.
Let’s see if our work together can get you there.
Hey, I’m Alicia!
As a previously burned out high acheiving perfectionist, I get it. You’ve worked hard to get to where you are but you still feel like something is missing.
You’re worried that you aren’t doing enough yet are so busy doing all the things you don’t have time for yourself.
You’re feeling stuck, helpless, and hopeless. It can be a dark and lonely place. I’m here to help.
I know firsthand that change is possible. That you can have a successful career and feel good about the work you. AND that you can have a meaningful and present life outside of work. You can enjoy time with loved ones, find a hobby, and expand your self-worth to beyond work titles.
I want you to know that I think you are worthy. Not just when you accomplish a goal or when you get a new promotion, but always. Now let’s work together so you can believe that, too!
When I am not in my therapy role- I enjoy reading romantasy books, finding good deals at thrift stores, hiking local trails with my husband, and doing DIY crafts (not very well). I hope to get to know more about you, soon!
My Style:
Many of my clients say I am different than their previous therapists. When I ask how, they say they can really be themselves and feel understood. There is no pressure or expectation to be perfect. You don’t have to worry about saying the wrong thing or that you’re going to be judged. Our therapy space is a safe, non-judgmental zone where you can be you!
Therapy is not a one size fits all, so I will meet you where you are! Think of a park map where there are many different trails to choose from. I hold the map and make sure we aren’t going to get lost in a forest, but you get to pick the path! You pick where we turn, how far on each path we go, if we should go down any side adventures along the way, and what type of trail experience you want to get! We work together to reach the end of the trail.
In sessions, we don’t have to feel like we are in a board meeting. We talk about the latest memes and tiktoks that you’ve found funny, chat about books you get lost in, and say hi to any pets that join our sessions. My cat, Ollie, likes to make an appearance when he gets hungry and starts to knock things off the desk.
I use humor with clients. We laugh. We cry. We are real humans. I aim to create a space where you can let the guard down and be yourself.
The process:
Being a woman can be hard! There are a lot of pressures and expectations for how we should act, look, and feel. Each session, my goal is to empower you so you can do what is best for you- not what society thinks is best.
I believe women can be successful in life and take time for themselves- guilt free. In the early stages of therapy, we are working together to build up your foundation of tools and resources! We find creative ways for you to cope, practice self-care, set boundaries, identify your needs, and more! This is possible to do without sacrificing your connection to your loved ones or the achievements you’ve worked hard at.
Some of the deep work comes when we start exploring our past experiences and what the inner voice is telling you. By this time, you’ll have a solid foundation and can tackle those thoughts and feelings with support and confidence. You deserve to treat yourself with the same compassion you give others.
