Helping Women Move from feeling stuck in the past, to enjoying the now.

Are difficult past experiences impacting you in the present day?

You want to move forward with your life.

I am so proud of you for being here. A major part of trauma is having control taken away from you in that moment. You may even feel like you don’t have control over your body at times. That is because our brain and body can go into survival mode and have the fight or flight response stay on even after the event. By you showing up and taking this step for yourself, you are reclamining the power back in your life.

You may hear about how people are resilient. And we are. It is an incredible thing about our brains and body to be able to survive, adapt, and change. It also can suck. It can be frustrating, unjust, and annoying that you have to do things even though you didn’t ask for the trauma. Both truths exist, and therapy can be a space to sit with those complex beliefs.

After stressful and traumatic experiences it may feel like….

  • you are re-experiencing old events over and over again.

  • your body is not your own.

  • you have tried everything you know to move forward, but you still feel stuck.

  • you either feel overwhelmed or numb, there is no in-between

  • your thoughts are scattered and trying to make sense of things but you can’t seem to get clarity.

  • it is hard to stay focused as your brain is always scanning what is going on around you.

  • Imagine going somewhere new and feeling relaxed instead of “on alert.”

  • Imagine trusting your gut and not being hyjacked by your thoughts and emotions.

  • Imagine feeling compassion towards yourself rather than shame.

  • Imagine being able to come home after work and rest rather than replay each moment in a play by play.

The trauma wasn’t your fault. No matter what that inner critic says

Many clients start out trauma therapy because they feel guilt and shame for the trauma they experience. You might notice these thoughts if you think “oh I should have done this” “if only I would have done X. Y, or Z then this wouldn’t have happened” or “ I should have tried to stop it.”

Part of the therapy process explores those beliefs and frees you from the blame. We practice self-compassion and remind that critic in your brain that you are not responsible for other people’s behaviors. Sometimes our survival strategies surprise us, so let’s process your responses and better understand how your brain keeps you safe and alive.

Together, we can empower your inner resilience

  • learn effective strategies to cope with triggers and present emotions and responses.

  • re-train the brain and body to react to the present moments rather than past experiences.

  • process and gain clarity on any stuck points from past experiences.

  • build up inner resilience using compassion, education, and new tools.

  • build up empowerment tools to help you feel safe in your own body and around others.

How can therapy help with trauma?

Is online therapy for trauma a good fit for you?

Often times, these patterns have been around for a while. We try to move forward but something always brings us back to old ways. We can feel frustrated and hopeless that no matter what we do, these patterns creep back in. It is exhausting.

It doesn’t have to stay this way. Therapy can be an effective tool to help the brain naturally process material that feels stuck and help you move towards the future you’d like to see. We see these benefits even with online therapy!

With online therapy, you can be in the comfort of your own home or car, snuggle with a pet during sessions, have snacks and water nearby, and be close to your self-care activities for before and after session, if needed!
