Therapy is most beneficial when there is a good match between therapist and client! The free consults allow us to practice logging in and getting the feel for what it is like talking to someone. It takes the pressure off the intake sessions and helps you see if it would be a good fit for you.
Your time is valuable. That is why you can schedule on my portal at a time that works best for you, without getting caught in phone tag or not hearing back from me. You can do that HERE. I respond to these appointment requests within 24 hours and once confirmed, then a guide and appointment link are sent to you!
Reaching out is the first step towards getting the relief you deserve.
Why a consult?
It might be frustrating if you have a quick question and don’t want to set up a consult. I try to answer all the common quick answers on my Fees & FAQ page so check there if you haven’t!
Here’s why email and phone calls just don’t work. Have you played phone tag with someone you’ve been trying to schedule with and you keep missing each other? I used to spend days and weeks playing phone tag with clients who wanted help and it was not an efficient use of their time. They were busy and had to work around their schedule. By scheduling something that we knew worked for both of us, we actually got to meet and go over the questions.
Why no email? The lame answer is the darn spam folder. I have heard from so many people that they have reached out to countless therapists only to never hear back from them. Then I have heard, from both therapists and clients, that the messages went to spam. Ugh!

Part of why consults are great is because we get to see if we are a good match for treatment. Sometimes I am, and it is a wonderful transition to the intake session where we can start working on your goals.
Sometimes I am not the best fit, and that’s okay. What is different about our consults is that I don’t send you on your way only to repeat this process again and again. By learning what you like and dislike, I can offer referrals to folks who would better serve your needs. We go over those during the consult. This is why our time on the video consult is so valuable and gets you into therapy quicker than a phone call or email.

If you are needing ongoing crisis supports, we can chat about additional options in session as I do not offer crisis services or emergency services. My phone and email are not checked regularly and may miss your request for immediate assistance.
